Where We Work

Although Nicaragua is only about the size of New York, we believe it has huge potential.

Education is the starting point to unlocking that potential.
Adult literacy rate in nicaragua
population living below the poverty line
number of years of compulsory education
secondary school attendance rate

The majority of our projects are based in the community of Pantanal, located just
outside the city of Granada.

With a population of just over 100,000, Granada serves as Amped for Education’s home base during volunteer trips. It is a colonial city situated on the shores of Lake Nicaragua, the largest lake in the country.┬áPantanal is a large neighborhood located about two miles outside the city, and has nearly 12,000 residents. In 2010, Amped initiated the construction and opening of a secondary school, and in October of 2013 we opened our first learning center to serve students at another secondary school.
